Ahead of England’s World Cup fixture against Uruguay on Saturday, coaches Graham Rowntree and Andy Farrell have been banned from England’s dressing room before and during Saturday’s game (BBC).
The two former England internationals were recently found guilty of speaking to match officials during last week’s disappointing loss to Australia, which sent the host-nation out of their own World Cup.
French referee Romain Poite awarded nine penalties against England when they played the Wallabies and Rowntree and Farrell were clearly not happy with the decisions going against them.
Rowntree and Farrell’s interactions with the assistant referees were then reviewed by World Rugby via CCTV footage, and they have subsequently earned themselves a ban from the changes rooms for the Uruguay clash. World Rugby does not allow any unauthorised contact between coaches and officials during the game, and therefore the duo did break regulations.
Things seem to be going from bad to worse for England at the moment and they’ll be rueing this pretty abysmal 2015 World Cup campaign.
