Wales climb up in World Rankings

Wales have climbed to their highest world ranking position of second after recording a historic 28-25 victory over England at Twickenham on Saturday.

The latest rankings list released today also showed that the Rugby World Cup hosts have dropped three places to sixth following their Pool A defeat.

As reported by Sky Sports, Wales are now only second to commanding leaders New Zealand, whilst Australia sit in third place, followed by Ireland, South Africa and England.

Wales’ next opponents Fiji, who they play Thursday at the Millennium Stadium, are placed 10th.

Warren Gatland side’s emphatic rise up the rankings list has been helped by points being earned and lost being doubled during the tournament.

Meanwhile, Scotland have returned to the top 10 and are currently ninth, having previously been 12th, following an impressive start to the World Cup with bonus-point victories over Japan and USA.
