Cardiff Blues talisman Josh Navidi has signed a three-year contract extension with the Arms Park region, taking his current deal through to 2019.
The back row has been the Blues’ player of the year for the past two season, so retaining their star player will come as a big boost to the Cardiff-based outfit.
The versatile Wales international had one year left on his contract and told the BBC that he had offers from other clubs,
“I had offers from elsewhere but it was a good offer from the Blues. They’ve been a good club to me and another three years with Danny (Wilson, head coach) coming in as well, a lot’s going to change.”
Navidi was a rare shining light at No.8 for the Blues during a torrid season as the Blues finished below all their other regional rivals in the Pro12, and it was that form that led to many calling for his inclusion into Warren Gatland’s World Cup squad.
However, he was overlooked for the training squad and must now turn his attention back to the Blues who are attempting to rebuild under new coach Danny Wilson.
With the season opener at home to Zebre on the horizon, Navidi is pleased to have sorted out his future at the Arms Park.
“I’m delighted to get it done and dusted so early in the season with another year left on my other contract. I can just concentrate on my game now.”
