Wales started their JWC campaign with a narrow 25-24 win over the hosts, Georgia. It was a win by the finest of margins as they won by one point, even though Georgia scored four tries, compared to Wales’ three. It was the boot of Carwyn Leggatt-Jones that made the difference, kicking two penalties and two of his three conversions.

Uruguay started their campaign with a terrible defeat to the Junior Boks, losing to last year’s champions 104-7. They conceded a total of 16 tries, with the number of tries evenly distributed between the two halves. The Junior Boks are set to be one of the favourites for the tournament, and therefore the Uruguayans will look for stronger performances in their final two games.
