Munster had a difficult tour of South Africa before the European break, when they were beaten by the Sharks and the Bulls. They then struggled in the wind against the Exeter Chiefs, getting knocked out of the Challenge Cup. In the last round of the URC, they defeated Benetton 45-15. A welcome return to the URC, where they scored seven tries.

Ulster had been in a great run, but their last two interpro performances have ended in their only two home losses of the season. They have had three home games in a row and will travel for the first time in April. In the last round, they welcomed Leinster to Belfast. They were physically dominated in the first half and couldn’t make any inroads in the Leinster defence. They scored three second-half tries but couldn’t catch up to the deficit already created.
