France grabbed the spoils and kept their pursuit of a first Grand Slam in ten years on track with victory against Wales. It was a deserved win for Les Bleus, who played the more controlled and decisive rugby.
Wales made it a close run thing but were unable to land a knockout blow. After two defeats in this year’s Six Nations, coach Wayne Pivac and his staff have several issues to address around personnel and tactics.
Wales weren’t clinical enough when opportunities arose and they couldn’t take advantage of the extra man on both occasions where a French player was sent to the sin bin.
Here’s how we rated the Wales players after the game.

Leigh Halfpenny - 6
Couldn’t gather a high ball for France’s opening try. Didn’t offer enough going forward.

George North - 5
Had to go off the field after 10 minutes after another worrying blow to the head. Didn’t return.

Nick Tompkins - 7.5
Never stopped working even when it went wrong. Threw the intercepted pass in the game’s pivotal moment which was run in for a try but was he was Wales’ best back.

Hadleigh Parkes - 6
Couldn’t dictate play or dominate the French backline. Not terrible but not brilliant either.

Josh Adams - 6.5
Another who tried to influence proceedings but ultimately fell short. Squared up to his opposite number at the end of the first half. Got a ticking off from the ref as a result. Hurt his ankle and bravely tried to carry on before being hooked.

Dan Biggar - 6
He spent too much of his time shaking his head at the ref and waving his arms in disgust. I felt he let his emotions got the better of him. Scored a try to keep Wales in the hunt.

Gareth Davies - 6
Came in for Tomos Williams but didn’t necessarily grab the jersey with his performance.

Wyn Jones - 6
Made headlines in the build-up to this game with his comments about the French scrum. Came off near the hour mark.

Ken Owens - 7
Decent delivery to the lineout. Gave his all.

Dillon Lewis - 6.5
A mixed bag. Gave away a penalty for being off his feet first half but threw a dummy and charged over for a Welsh try in the second.

Jake Ball - 6.5
Another who gave his all. Unlucky to give away a penalty at a lineout.

Alan Wyn Jones - 6.5
Couldn’t turn the French tide in a game Wales didn’t really deserve to win.

Ross Moriarty - 7
Secured some lineout ball and was combative. Made some ground with his carries.

Justin Tipuric - 6.5
A quiet game by his standards. No mistakes.

Talupe Faletau - 6
Perhaps not the player of a few seasons ago after a difficult run of injuries. Turned over French ball but maybe chose the wrong option in going for the line himself just before half time.

Johnny Mcnicholl - 6
Played nearly the whole game but couldn’t make his mark.

Tomos Williams - 6.5
Doesn’t provide the sniping threat but perhaps offers more varied options than Davies.

Rob Evans - 7
Threw himself into the fray. Played his part in the Welsh scrum pressure close to the French line at the end.

Will Rowlands - 6.5
Made a good charge forward with the ball in hand after coming on.

Jarrod Evans - 6.5
Was busy and industrious.

Aaron Wainwright - 6.5
Went alone in a Welsh attack when others were better placed. However, he gave his all during his cameo.

Leon Brown - N/A
Late substitution.

Ryan Elias - N/A
On late.
