Following an enthralling Six Nations which saw Wales crowned Grand Slam champions, the attention of northern hemisphere rugby turns to European club rugby.
The first stage of the knockouts have set up what are guaranteed to be cracking contests. Despite being in the form of their lives the Welsh Rugby Union has no representation in this weekend’s fixtures. There are two French sides, Racing 92 and Toulouse who face off on Sunday to conclude the weekend. The Pro14 leads the way with five teams in the quarterfinals, however.
First, an in-form Edinburgh host Munster, followed by reigning champions Leinster facing off against Ulster in an all-Irish fixture. In between these games we’ll see the ever present Saracens take on Glasgow in a fixture which has been a regular occurrence in recent years.
Every side has a chance of walking away with a victory which would see them claim a semi-final place but let’s see how the matches may pan out over what is sure to be a great weekend of rugby.
Edinburgh vs Munster
Edinburgh have surprised everyone this season, recently claiming a victory against Leinster. However, the European giant of Munster will prove to be too much for them this weekend.
Prediction: Munster by 8
Saracens vs Glasgow
When these two meet two things seem guaranteed, sparks flying and a Saracens victory. Unfortunately for Glasgow, it looks like it will be business as usual for Saracens.
Prediction: Saracens by 15
Leinster vs Ulster
Normally Ulster fans enter a game like this with a sense of hope more than anything, but here they have a real chance. Leinster will welcome back out of form Irish players such as Johnny Sexton and are coming off a defeat last weekend. However, Leinster are a different animal in Europe.
Prediction: Leinster by 13
Racing 92 vs Toulouse
Toulouse surprised everyone when they beat Leinster earlier in the competition and Racing suffered a shock defeat at the hands of Ulster in gameweek 5. However, last years beaten finalists should ease through this one.
Prediction: Racing 92 by 6
