Aaron Jarvis returns to Welsh Rugby after two-year absence

Prop Aaron Jarvis has announced his eagerly anticipated return to Welsh rugby by signing a two-year contract with the Dragons, according to a report on Wales Online.

The Welshman left Ospreys in 2016 and has been playing for Clermont Auvergne in France ever since.

The Dragons needed to strengthen their front-row and identified Jarvis as their main target, as he can operate on both sides of the scrum. Therefore, he was the man they wanted to bolster their options.

The 31-year-old will be looking to add to his 18 Wales caps on his return and has hopes of impressing Welsh head coach Warren Gatland ahead of next year’s world cup.

Jarvis said:

I’ve really enjoyed my time in France with Clermont, I feel I am returning to Wales a better player and proud of what I’ve achieved during my time here. The time feels right to return for a fresh challenge and I’m excited about joining the Dragons next season given the squad Bernard is building.

Dragons coach Bernard Jackman is pleased that Jarvis has decided to return to Wales. He said:

We’re delighted to sign Aaron for next season. He has the pedigree, profile and talent we were looking for to boost our front row options, with a wealth of experience at regional, European and international level.

Wales boss Gatland will also be keeping a close eye on his performances over the course of the year and Jarvis is ready to battle his way back into the squad.
