Eddie Jones verbally abused in Manchester

England head coach Eddie Jones has been verbally abused in Manchester, as he travelled back to London from Edinburgh on the train.

As Jones posed for a picture with two fans outside the Oxford Road station, three men appeared from out of shot, and proceeded to verbally abuse the 58-year-old as he tried to get into a waiting car.

As Jones was helped through to the vehicle by station staff and the driver, the barrage of insults continued. Once inside the car, Jones’ door was briefly opened by one of the men as the car attempted to drive away.

British Transport Police also received an additional report of abuse on the train itself, directed against Jones.

No arrests were made, but enquiries are said to be continuing.

Scotland had defeated England 25-13 to secure their first win in the Calcutta Cup in nine years.

Jones has said he will no longer use public transport to travel around the country.
