Denton delighted to be back in international rugby

Scotland number eight David Denton is reportedly relishing the chance to be back playing international rugby.

Denton hadn’t played for his country since 2016, as injuries and bad form kept him away from Murrayfield. Coming off the bench against France, the 28-year-old played an important role in securing Scotland’s first win of the Six Nations.

The powerful Zimbabwean-born Worcester star has recently been signed for the 2018/19 season by the Leicester Tigers.

Speaking to the BBC, Denton said:

Being away for so long, being able to get out there and my first game back being at Murrayfield made it all the more special,

It’s an awesome feeling. I don’t think I’ve ever taken it for granted, but when you’re younger it feels like it’s just something that’s meant to happen and you don’t really think about it.

Denton made his 36th appearance for his country on Saturday, and is hoping there will be many more to follow.

I’ve been doing the work over the last two years. It’s not like I’ve been sitting in a cave doing nothing. I feel like I’ve come out of this period a much better rugby player than I was before.

Scotland play England at 16:45 on Saturday.
