Another weekend of Six Nations rugby is in the books and there were three very different games played.
Ireland destroyed Italy in Dublin, England just overcame Wales in a tight game at Twickenham, whilst Scotland came from 20-14 down to beat France 32-26 at Murrayfield.
There were some big time performers over the course of the three games and we’ve put them all together to create the Team of the Weekend:
Fullback: Mike Brown (England)
Not always the most popular player but Brown’s catching of numerous high kicks, in terrible conditions, was excellent. He was good at relieving pressure with is own kicking too.
Winger: Teddy Thomas (France)
Apologies to Jacob Stockdale but Thomas’ finishing gets him the nod. He danced his way to an amazing first try before getting on the end of a chip to score a second.
Centre: Huw Jones (Scotland)
Scored a very good try to spark Scotland’s comeback and his ball carrying was excellent throughout. Robbie Henshaw is unlucky to miss out, but the injury hurt his chances.
Centre: Owen Farrell (England)
Made game changing plays in both attack and defence. His kick to set up May’s first try was inch-perfect, whilst his impressive turnover in the ruck inside England’s 22 prevented Wales from scoring more points.
Winger: Jonny May (England)
You wait a long time for a Six Nations try and then two come along at once! He showed his pace and athleticism for the first try before making a smart run for his second.
Fly-half: Greig Laidlaw (Scotland)
Scored 22 points with his boot as Scotland pulled out a great win over France.
Scrum-half: Conor Murray (Ireland)
Man of the Match in a convincing Ireland win. Dictated the whole game, made a lovely pass to set up Henshaw’s first try and scored his own try too.
Prop: Mako Vunipola (England)
Lasted 76 minutes in a bruising encounter. Did very well at the scrum, as per usual.
Hooker: Rory Best (Ireland)
Excellent at the lineout again as Ireland dominated in Dublin.
Prop: Simon Berghan (Scotland)
An amazing 13 carries for the Edinburgh man, who, despite his inexperience, looked like a veteran Test player.
Lock: Joe Launchbury (England)
His offload for Jonny May’s second try was fantastic, as was his all-around performance.
Lock: Maro Itoje (England)
A powerful display from the Saracens star who did well to win the ball back in the build up to the second try.
Flanker: Aaron Shingler (Wales)
Came out on the losing side but he played really well. His performance was topped off by a huge 50m burst.
Flanker: Sam Underhill (England)
Only played one half but he gets into the side for his amazing try saving tackle on Scott Williams in the corner.
Number 8: Chris Robshaw (England)
Yes, he’s not a number 8 but he moved there after Sam Simmonds’ departure and was super impressive in a strong defensive effort.
