Warburton: 2018 Six Nations will be most competitive ever

British and Irish Lions captain and Welsh international Sam Warburton believes this years Six Nations will be the ‘most competitive ever’, and thinks no side will win complete a Grand Slam, BBC report.

Warburton, 29, is out for up to six months after he underwent surgery on a reoccurring knee injury, meaning he will miss all of the Six Nations tournament.

However, despite not being involved on the field, the flanker is set to become a pundit for the competition and believes no side will complete a Grand Slam, just as England did last year.

We won’t see anybody winning the Grand Slam this season, this is the most competitive year since the tournament became the Six Nations. There are definitely four teams, and potentially France, who can all beat each other. It’s wide open.

England are aiming to become the first nation in 135 years to win the title outright for three consecutive years, when they get their campaign underway against Italy in Rome on Sunday.

Warburton’s Wales begin their Six Nations campaign against Scotland, and have six first choice players out injured, including Jonathan Davies and Rhys Webb, who like Warburton,  will miss the whole tournament.
