Ross Moriarty has revealed that he wasn’t able to walk up the stairs at his home after the horror injury he suffered while with the British and Irish Lions last year, Sky Sports report.
Moriarty, 23, will return to Test match action when Wales host Scotland in Saturday’s Six Nations opener on Saturday.
The Gloucester forward spoke about his long road to recovery after suffering an unusual injury which kept him out for eight months.
Two of the discs slipped in my back and jammed into the nerves of my legs, so the muscles on my legs stopped working, so I’ve had to learn to use my leg muscles again. I couldn’t run, I couldn’t stand on one leg, I couldn’t walk up or down stairs.

Surgery wasn’t an option for Moriarty either, with the surgeon’s telling the player it was too close to a nerve and if the specific nerve was damaged, it could have meant an early retirement for the 23-year-old.
It is set to be only the fourth time this season he has played for club or country when he appears for Wales against Scotland, something the player can’t wait for after enduring a tough eight months off the field.
