North to miss remainder of New Zealand tour

Wales wing George North is set to miss the remainder of their summer tour of New Zealand after sustaining a hamstring injury.

North pulled up late during Wales’ 39-21 defeat in their first Test against New Zealand, and now is likely to sit out on his country’s next two fixtures against the world champions.

The All Blacks coach Steve Hanson said to Wales Online:

I went into the Welsh dressing afterwards and it looks like North has pulled a hamstring and won’t be playing next week which is disappointing for him.

Wales started terrifically at Eden Park, going into half-time with a 18-15 lead, however New Zealand surged back into the game and came out 38-21 winners in Auckland.

Taulepe Faletau and Rhys Webb were the Welshmen to touch-down in the first-half, but tries from Julian Savea, Kieran Read, Nathan Harris and a brace from Waisake Naholo sent the All Blacks into a 1-0 lead in the three-Test series.
