England to lose scrum-half for Six Nations

Wasps scrum-half, Joe Simpson, will miss out on rugby action for four to six weeks. The England international suffered an ankle injury during his team’s 51-10 thrashing of Irish side, Leinster, last weekend.

Wasps coach, Dai Young, has described that Simpson will most likely miss this year’s Six Nations due to his unfortunate injury.

New England coach, Eddie Jones only has Danny Care and Ben Youngs as recognised scrum-halves in his squad for the upcoming tournament.

Dai Young felt that Simpson could have been drafted into the squad, due to the lack of options.

Young told Association Sport “It’s safe to say he’s probably looking at four to six weeks as a minimum. If the surgeon feels he needs an operation, then it could be a little bit longer.”

Wasps are also struggling to find a replacement for Simpson, Dan Robson is an alternate option but the Coventry based club are struggling to find a first team player to cover for Robson.

England play Scotland in their first match of the Six Nations, on February 6th.
