London Wasps flanker James Haskell has confirmed that he has extended his contract with the club to keep him with the side for another few years. Sky Sports reports that the England international has chosen to extend his spell with the side.
Haskell, aged 30, has represented Wasps since 2002 when he made his debut. At the time, he was only 18-years-old and became Wasps youngest ever player.
The player also had stints with Stade Francais and the Otago Highlanders before returning to Wasps where he became club captain in 2014. He was also a massive influence in the decision to move the club to Coventry and remains a popular figure at the club.

Haskell admitted that he was massively pleased to have extended his current contract and argues that his passion for the club that started at a young age was one of the factors that determined his decision.
“I am delighted and over the moon to be extending my contract with Wasps. It is the only Premiership club I have ever known and feels like home, even after my stint around the world. I supported Wasps as an avid fan from the age of 13, so to be able to extend my stay, and lead the boys out as captain, is a dream come true.”

Wasps director Dai Young was equally delighted that the player had extended his stay with the Coventry-based side.
“James has been an outstanding captain for us, as well as one of our key performers over the past few seasons. His decision to extend his contract shows his belief in this squad and the direction the club is moving in. “As one of our senior players, James will play an integral part in the squad’s development, helping to drive standards and performance. He is excited by the leadership role and I am sure he will continue to excel at it.”
