Bath bolster with Bowden purchase

Mike Ford has continued his run of purchases by securing the transfer of Dan Bowden from Auckland-based side the Blues. The Bath coach has been looking to bolster his side recently with other players such as Faletau and Denton joining the club. Now, BBC Sport reports that Bath have captured the services of Dan Bowden from the Blues in New Zealand and will complete his move in January.

With his side currently faltering for form, it comes as no surprise that Ford is looking to add depth to his side and Bowden ticks several boxes. The experienced Kiwi is capable of playing at both fly-half and centre meaning that he can provide cover across the back line. Also, his experience with playing with both Leicester Tigers and London Irish will also mean that he slots into the English game very quickly.

Ford seemed very happy to have secured Bowden’s services and claims that he had been looking to bolster his backs for some time. However, he also admitted that he is still in the market for another player or two for his team.

“We have a little bit of money left in the salary cap and it’s an area where we think can be improved and have more rotation. It’s a two-and-a-half-year contract and I think the fans at the Rec will enjoy watching him. I’ve got a lot of money left, so we’re looking to sign one more in the forwards and in the backs.”
