Slade set for surgery

England centre Henry Slade is set to undergo surgery this afternoon after suffering what looked like a broken leg. The injury occurred whilst he was playing for Exeter chiefs at Wasps.

The 22 year old was forced off of the pitch with 15 minutes remaining in Exeter’s win at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry. After the game coach Rob Baxter revealed that the injury was very serious.

The injury was assessed as soon as the team arrived back from their away trip to Coventry and unfortunately he’s been told he has to have surgery.

Even though he was immediately put in a cast after being carried off the pitch he hoped that the situation would not materialise.

He wrote on twitter ” Thanks for all the kin messages guys. Really means alot … heading back to Exeter to get it checked out. Fingers crossed!”

Although his optimism unfortunately it looks like it is probably a break and a long time out for the Plymouth born player.
