Ford – Toulon game will be played

Bath’s recently suspended Champions’ Cup fixture against Toulon will be played despite difficulties that have arisen while trying to rearrange the game.

Bath were set to play against Toulon in their first European fixture of this season, but the game was postponed following the horrific attacks in Paris. Attempts were made later on to rearrange the fixture for the near future, but congestion caused by international and domestic games meant that the fixture looked set never to happen.

Now, though, Bath head coach Mike Ford has confirmed that the game will be played, although not until at least the new year. Speaking after the Leinster win, Ford admitted that playing the fixture before Christmas was not feasible, yet remained adamant that the game will still be played.

“It will definitely be played; but not in the two league rounds coming up or the Christmas period. Early January is the most likely and there is no question of it not going ahead.”

This will come as good news to Bath fans who had been looking forward to their side’s first ever game against the three-times champions of Europe as they will still get to watch the clash.
