Farrell happy with Saracens start

Saracens fly-half Owen Farrell is very happy with his side’s start and has backed the Sarries to push for glory in Europe this season.

Farrell, who played at the recent Rugby World Cup in his natural position, but can and has also played at centre, praised his team after an encouraging performance at Ulster. Speaking to SarriesTV, he said

“It was a brilliant win, especially after the start we had and playing into a really tough wind in the first half”

The 9-27 away win against Ulster was their second win in as many European Champions Cup matches; Farrell nailed two conversions and scored a penalty as the Saracens limited Ulster to only picking up points from penalties of their own.

After battling against the wind to make a comeback, Farrell praised the dedication of the boys in red and black:

“They seemed to have a lot of field position in that first 20 minutes but we managed to fight our way back into the game, and I thought we were very clinical and took our chances – you have to be like that away from home.

“That bonus point was massive for us. We had to go for those penalties when we got them in the last few minutes, and we really stepped it up again in that final period.”

The Saracens next fixture is an Aviva Premiership tie at home to the Warriors on the 28th of November. They currently lead the pack in the Premiership, sitting two points ahead of the Chiefs and four ahead of third-placed Harlequins.
