The opening game of Exeter’s foray into the Champions Cup at the Liberty Stadium was evidence of the Chief’s lack of experience on the European circuit.
Despite the Ospreys’ line-out and scrum not functioning, with the addition that the metronomic Dan Biggar missed three penalties over the course of the night, the experience of the Welsh team meant that they were able to deliver in the second-half to secure the victory.
A Luke Cowan-Dickie knock on over the try line could have really helped settle the nerves of the visitors, however, Exeter looked like they were in the ascendency at the half time whistle, with Short’s powerful try securing a 10-6 lead at the break.
