Bath sign Scotland star Denton

Bath have signed Scotland international David Denton on a permanent contract following the departure of Sam Burgess back to Rugby League and their unsuccessful attempt to sign Wales star Taulupe Faletau.

Denton enjoyed an impressive World Cup with Scotland narrowly losing going out to Australia. Now, the Western Telegraph reports that Denton has made the decision to move to Bath to help bolster their back-row which has been an area for concern for some time.

Bath had previously hoped to lure Wales international Taulupe Faletau to the Rec but after the Welsh Rugby Union decided to block to move, the club had to look elsewhere. Bath were also keen on Schalk Burger and Louis Picamoles to replace the outward bound Sam Burgess, but they eventually settled with Denton.

Bath coach Mike Ford spoke about his side’s capture of Denton and claimed that he was very excited to have secured the player after his impressive World Cup performances.

“We’ve been looking to bolster our back-row for some time now so we’re very excited that David is joining us. He had an excellent World Cup especially in the quarter-final where he managed to outshine one fo the best Australian back rows I’ve seen for a long time.”He’s going to fit in very well with the team and the way we play here.”
