Ryan denies interest in England job

Worcester Warriors head coach Dean Ryan has denied that he is interested in the England job should Stuart Lancaster be sacked following his side’s abysmal performance as hosts of the 2015 Rugby World Cup.

Speaking to BBC Hereford & Worcester, Ryan stated that: “I’ve had no interest at all.

“I’ve never been interested, as I don’t think you can be successful in it.

“It’s just a question of being turned over every three years. Look at the last 15 years. And I’ve been pretty vocal on why I think that is.”

Ryan took his Worcester side to promotion last season, re-joining English Rugby’s elite in the Aviva Premiership at the first time of asking.

He is seemingly committed to the Warriors, telling punters to: “Save your money. I signed up here for a specific challenge.

“To come here was a huge direction in life. I only came here because of how big the challenge is and what I think we can do with it and I have a commitment to the people who came to me and asked me.

“Because I came back to rugby doesn’t mean I’ve another iron in the fire. Maybe 10 years ago I might have been but I absolutely have no interest.”

This statement of intent comes only days after speculation surrounding the future of England’s head coach intensifies as Stuart Lancaster’s job security is looking weaker by the day, after England’s disastrous World Cup campaign on home soil.
