The 2015 Rugby World Cup is now well under-way and England fans are eagerly anticipating their match versus Wales on Saturday at 8pm.
Some fans may be surprised to see that fly-half George Ford has been dropped and replaced with Owen Farrell.
According to BBC Sport, England head coach Stuart Lancaster has insisted that he is not panicking by replacing Ford for Farrell for the match on Saturday against Wales
George Ford, 22, started last week in England’s win over Fiji, however Owen Farrell impressed after coming off the bench and has been selected over his rival for the match by Stuart Lancaster, who is clearly confident that he has made the correct choice to bring the man in.
Sam Burgess has been chosen at inside centre after Jonathan Joseph picked up chest injury and has therefore been ruled out of the Wales tie.
“I don’t think putting an in-form and confident Owen Farrell into the team is a risk,” said Lancaster BBC Sport.
Lancaster has come under heavy criticism for dropping Ford but it is clear to see why he has chosen Farrell and why he thinks that it was the right decision to bring him in to the side.
Former England player Toby Flood has berated the decision by saying this: “George hasn’t done a huge amount wrong and I could see why he potentially was a little bit upset with the decision,”
When speaking about his decision, Lancaster said: “There’s definitely no panic,”
“Owen wasn’t available in the Six Nations and George was fantastic. We’re fortunate to have two high-quality players in that position.”
