Bristol promoted back to Aviva Premiership
Bristol have been promoted back to the Aviva Premiership after winning the Championship title after Ealing failed to win on Saturday, the Bristol Post report.
Pat Lam’s side demolished Nottingham 60-17 on Friday night, which meant second-placed Ealing had to win against Doncaster.
Ealing suffered a shock 50-19 defeat to Doncaster on Saturday, which meant Bristol are 18 points clear at the top, with Ealing only able to earn a maximum of 15 more points from their remaining fixtures.
With the play-off rule recently scrapped in favour of automatic promotion for the league winners, Ealing will now be competing in the second division again next season.
Bristol were relegated from the Premiership last season, after gaining promotion via the play-offs in 2015/16, however, Lam has guided the side back to the top flight during his first season in charge.
