Simon Berghan: ‘I felt like a boy in a man’s world’
Scotland prop Simon Berghan admitted that he ‘felt like a boy in a man’s world’ when he made his Six Nations debut last year, BBC report.
Berghan, 27, impressed in Scotland’s 32-26 victory over France during this years Six Nations, and admitted he felt overwhelmed when he made his Test debut against the same opponents in Paris last year in front of 75,000 fans.
This time last year, I was a new face and it was a tough Six Nations for me, the whole thing was quite overwhelming and I wasn’t aware of how much I’d be affected by everything around it, the media, the build-up and everything. I just felt a bit like a boy in a man’s world.
The Edinburgh prop missed Scotland’s hammering by Wales in Cardiff through suspension in the opening fixture, and has now turned all of his attention to the upcoming battle with England.
Berghan returned to Gregor Townsend’s side in the victory over France, and looks set to keep his place in the squad when England head to Murrayfield on Saturday.
In the last meeting between the two sides, Eddie Jones’ England inflicted a huge 61-21 defeat at Twickenham, and Berghan hopes the Scots can reverse that score line when the sides meet next weekend.
